TOKYO - Turkish-Japanese Parliamentary Friendship Group deputies had various meetings in Japan on Sunday.
The delegation headed by the group's chairman Mevlut Cavusoglu firstly met with Turks living in Japan in the Turkish Embassy in Tokyo.
Addressing the meeting, Cavusoglu said that the friendship group had 384 members and it was the biggest friendship group in the Turkish parliament.
Recalling that there were also Japanese-Turkish friendship groups in lower and upper chambers of the Japanese parliament, Cavusoglu pointed out to the importance of friendship groups in development of the bilateral relations.
Later the delegation attended the international panel discussion on investment opportunities in Turkey held by Middle East Cooperation Centre. The delegation which met with Japanese Friendship Group Chairman Shoji Motooka, also visited Japanese Foreign Trade Organization (JETRO), Japanese Association of Travel Agencies (JATA), Japanese Bank of International Cooperation (JBIC) and Japanese businessmen association Keidanren.
The parliamentary delegation also asked Japanese Foreign Ministry officials to take Turkey out from the list of second-degree countries which were dangerous for travelling. The delegation noted that Turkey was a safe country in respect of travel, asking the Japanese Foreign Ministry to cancel that decision. The latter took this decision following the terrorist attacks in Istanbul last November.
The parliamentary delegation will leave Japan on Tuesday.
JAPANESE INVESTORS INFORMED ABOUT TURKEY'S INVESTMENT OPPORTUNITIES
Japanese investors were informed about investment opportunities in Turkey at Tokyo International Forum.
Turkey also joined a fair on ''Investment Promotion to Middle East Countries'' organized by Japan-Middle East Cooperation Center at Tokyo International Forum.
Booklets promoting Turkish economy were distributed in the fair. Treasury Undersecretariat Foreign Capital Deputy Director General Berrin Bingol informed participants about investment opportunities in Turkey at a panel.
Bingol gave information about Turkey's geographical location, demographic structure, its European Union (EU) membership process, relations with neighboring countries, economic figures and reform program for improvement of investments in Turkey. Bingol also informed participants about Southeastern Anatolia Project (GAP) and privatization program in Turkey.
