ANKARA - Turkish State Minister Kursad Tuzmen visited the Russian Embassy in Ankara following demise of former President Boris Yeltsin, and offered condolences on behalf of the Turkish government.
During the visit, Tuzmen signed the special book at the embassy, "we will always remember Yeltsin`s efforts to further strengthen the bilateral relations between Turkey and Russia besides his valuable contributions to Russia`s democratic transformation and glabol peace with great respect. Turkish nation commiserates with Russian people in their grief. We offer our condolences to Russian people and Yeltsin`s family."
Former President Boris Yeltsin, who pushed Russia toward pluralism and a market economy, died of heart failure at the age of 76 on April 23rd.
Yeltsin was Russia`s first freely elected president.
