ANKARA - "I explained what kind of presidency I have in mind and openly asked for support" said Abdullah Gul, Turkish Foreign Minister & Deputy Prime Minister, following his visit to True Path Party (DYP) leader Mehmet Agar on Wednesday.
Gul who was named as the Justice & Development Party`s (AKP) candidate for president, reminded that he officially submitted his petition on Tuesday.
"I explained why I run, told what kind of presidency I have in mind if the parliament confirm my candidacy and openly asked for support", he said.
Answering questions regarding his contacts with the independent MPs and leaders of DYP, Republican People`s Party (CHP) and Motherland party (ANAVATAN) Gul said, he will respect any kind of approach towards his candidacy, whether supportive or not.
"What matters is a well functioning democracy" he added.
Upon another question, Gul said "Because of time limitation I cannot meet those political parties that are not in the parliament. However if I get elected, I will cooperate with NGOs and all political parties, whether in or out of the parliament."
