ISTANBUL - Superleague team Besiktas said on Friday that its striker Ilhan Mansiz is still under contract with the Besiktas firm.
Sending a statement to the Istanbul Stock Exchange, Besiktas firm said, ''every development about transfer of Ilhan Mansiz to Japan's Crimson Football Club Co Ltd's team has been publicly announced. Talks between Crimson Football Club Co Ltd and our firm on transfer of Ilhan Mansiz have been continuing. Necessary announcement will be made when these talks finish.''
J-League first division side Vissel Kobe made an offer to Ilhan Mansiz last Wednesday.
Crimson Group, operator of Japan's largest Internet shopping mall Rakuten Ichiba, took over the J-League first-division club Vissel Kobe.
The 28-year-old Besiktas forward scored the golden goal and took Turkey into the semi-finals of the 2002 World Cup.
