National Defense Minister Gonul Arrives In Munich

BERLIN - National Defense Minister Vecdi Gonul arrived in Munich, Germany on Thursday to attend the 40th Annual Munich Security Conference.
Gonul said that he would participate in a meal to be hosted by NATO Secretary General Jaap de Hoop Scheffer for defense ministers of NATO member countries on Friday, adding that the preparations for NATO summit, which will be held in Istanbul, would be taken up during the meal.
Gonul said that U.S. President George Bush was expected to arrive in Ankara for the summit and this increased the importance of the summit.
Turkey's Permanent Representative to NATO Ahmet Uzumcu will also attend the meal tomorrow.
