ANKARA - Following are the highlights from today`s Turkish daily Milliyet and Sabah. The Anadolu Agency is not responsible of opinions expressed or the context of the editorials and does not vouch for their accuracy.
After Foreign Minister Abdullah Gul has been nominated as candidate for president, discussions began in Justice & Development Party (AKP) about who will be the new foreign minister.
``State ministers Ali Babacan and Besir Atalay, as well as Saban Disli, Murat Mercan and Egemen Bagis are the names which are high on the agenda," wrote daily Milliyet.
Upon questions such as "The post of foreign minister is important. Who will be the next foreign minister?", Abdullah Gul --in a press conference he held at Parliament on Tuesday-- said, "I don`t have no concern. We have many friends in our party who are able to fulfill this mission in the best way. Our difficulty might be on preferring one among them. Thus, I don`t have any concern. Mr. Prime Minister will certainly make the appropriate decision. Also, if I am elected president, I will surely share my experience and provide support (to the new FM)."
-BEST CANDIDATE : BABACAN-
Turkish daily Sabah wrote that when PM Recep Tayyip Erdogan told Babacan "now your path is opened", it was interpreted as Babacan will be the new foreign minister.
On the other hand Finance Minister Kemal Unakitan and/or State Minister Abdullatif Sener are the names who are considered for the seat to be vacated by Babacan.
