ANKARA - President Rauf Denktas, Prime Minister Mehmet Ali Talat, and Foreign Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Serdar Denktas of Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) arrived in Ankara on Wednesday.
They are scheduled to meet with Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan, and Foreign Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Abdullah Gul.
Responding questions of journalists at the Gecitkale Airport prior to his departure, President Denktas said that they would assess meetings of Prime Minister Erdogan in Washington D.C. and New York.
When asked whether or not he had held talks with United Nations Secretary General Annan, President Denktas told reporters, ``not yet. I think that United Nations Secretary General Annan is waiting for us to meet with Turkish government officials. He knows that I cannot give a certain response without holding talks with Turkish government.``
When reminded that Prime Minister Erdogan said that they could cede a certain amount of territory from the TRNC to reach a solution, President Denktas said, ``if the TRNC and our sovereignty are recognized, then a certain amount of territory can be ceded naturally.``
