IZMIR - "Aegean is a very important region to invest in," said Peter Kolb, Germany's Consul General in Izmir on Tuesday.
A 15-people trade delegation, including entrepreneurs of Turkish descent from Germany's Hannover city, visited Aegean Region Chamber of Industry (EBSO).
Taking the floor during the visit, Kolb said Turkey was developing rapidly and moving forward on the way to modernization, and indicated that 300 German companies were active in the Aegean.
On the other hand, EBSO Executive Board Deputy Chairman Haluk Tezcan said historical ties between the two countries, as well as large Turkish community in Germany, made the two countries inseparable.
Tezcan said Germany was among the first 5 trade partners of Turkey and recalled that bilateral trade volume exceeded 24 billion USD in 2006.
Tezcan also said that 4 million German citizens preferred Turkey as a destination last year.
