ISTANBUL - Baki Yigit, who was detained in operations to find assailants of the quadruple suicide attacks in Istanbul on November 15 and 20, 2003 was arrested on Monday.
After his interrogation at the Provincial Directorate of Anti-Terrorism, Yigit was questioned by Istanbul State Security Court (DGM) Prosecutor Ali Cengiz Haciosmanoglu.
Later, Yigit was arrested by Istanbul DGM no: 4 on charges of being a member of the illegal organization.
Meanwhile, Yigit, during his interrogation at the DGM, said that he had held talks with Osama bin Laden, the head of the international terrorism network Al-Qaida, in Afghanistan before the September 11th attacks in the United States.
A total of 58 people were killed in the quadruple suicide attacks on Neve Shalom and Beth Israel synagogues, British Consulate General and HSBC Bank headquarters in Istanbul in November of 2003. Among those killed in the attacks was British Consul General Roger Short. Suicide bombers Mesut Cabuk, Gokhan Elaltuntas, Feridun Ugurlu and Ilyas Kuncak also died in the attacks.
