NEW YORK - Turkey's Consul General in New York Mehmet Samsar vacated his seat to a Turkish student for a day, on the occasion of the April 23rd National Sovereignty and Children's Day.
Taking over the seat from Samsar, 5th grade student from the New York Ataturk School Oguzhan Ulutas requested more books from the Turkish Ministry of National Education.
Ulutas also stressed that they are eager to exchange views with the students coming from Turkey regarding the education systems in Turkey and USA.
Recalling that they are unable to watch the Turkish TV channels in New York, Ulutas said that they also want to have an entertaining and colorful Turkish newspaper for Turkish children in the USA.
Meanwhile, students of the Pioneer Academy of Science in New Jersey celebrated April 23rd National Sovereignty and Children's Day with festivities.
While some students performed folk dances, others represented recent periods of Turkish history in a theatrical performance.
