Exports From Gap Region Increases By 55 Percent

GAZIANTEP - Exports from Southeastern Anatolia Project (GAP) region increased 55 percent to 904 million 87 thousand U.S. dollars in 2003.
In 2002, the region exported goods of 584 million 873 thousand U.S. dollars.
Southeast Anatolian Exporters' Association told the A.A on Saturday that the region exported 577 million 459 thousand U.S. dollars in textiles; 128 million 476 thousand U.S. dollars in grain-cereals; 81 million 288 thousand U.S. dollars in dried fruits; 4 million 741 thousand U.S. dollars in livestock; and 112 million 123 thousand U.S. dollars in various other products.
The region exported goods of 239 million 123 thousand U.S. dollars to the Middle Eastern countries, goods of 228 million 159 thousand U.S. dollars to the European Union (EU)-member countries, goods of 84 thousand 484 U.S. dollars to the other European countries, goods of 71 million 143 thousand U.S. dollars to Turkish Republics in Central Asia, goods of 58 thousand 302 U.S. dollars to American continent, goods of 32 million 895 thousand U.S. dollars to African countries, goods of 28 million 939 thousand U.S. dollars to the Commonwealth of Independent Countries, goods of 20 million 192 thousand U.S. dollars to Asian countries, and goods of 28 million 727 thousand U.S. dollars to the other countries and free zones.
Exports to EU-member countries increased by 27 percent, exports to the other European countries rose by 28 percent, exports to the Middle Eastern countries climbed by 57 percent, exports to the Turkish Republics increased by 62 percent, and exports to the Commonwealth of Independent Countries rose by 104 percent.
