DUSSELDORF - Environment and Forestry Minister Osman Pepe met on Friday with Baerbel Hoehn, Minister of Environment and Social Affairs of State North Rhine-Westphalia.
Pepe said after the meeting that they were carrying on their meetings on a different basis than their meetings in Berlin and they were in Dusseldorf to follow local practices. He added that they received information on how environmental problems between federal government and state governments were managed, how commissions were established and functioned and how special projects were inspected.
Noting that they were informed how systematic functioning was established in Germany, Pepe said that they had agreements with Germany within the European Union (EU) and added that one of those agreements was functioning and the other was on preparation stage.
Pepe said that they were carrying on joint studies on environment issue with the government of State North Rhine-Westphalia. He stressed that they have reached an understanding to continue cooperation on environmental issues increasingly.
Hoehn said that they were very pleased to be in cooperation with Turkey and added that acting together in solution of problems would bring important advantages to sides. Hoehn said that they desired to work together for a more beautiful world in industrial and environmental issues.
Pepe will visit Cologne Waste Water Process Center today and then will meet with head of European Bank for Reconstruction and Development Leon Macioszek.
Pepe will return from Cologne to Istanbul today.
