Extending Period Of Reassociation Law Is Not In Question

ANKARA - Ramazan Er, the Deputy Director General of Security and Spokesman said on Friday that 1534 of 3040 members of the terrorist organization who applied to benefit from the Reassociation Law were released to date.
Er said that extending the period of the law was not in question for the moment.
Speaking in the weekly news conference, Er gave information about the number of applications made to benefit from the law which would terminate on February 6, 2004.
Er stated that 426 members of 1264 KADEK/PKK members (in prison), 389 of 661 Hezbollah members (in prison), 201 KADEK/PKK members and 302 Hezbollah members who surrendered to police were released within the scope of the law.
Er stated that 2410 prisoners who were members of terrorist organizations such as Hezbollah, HIZBU-TAHRIR, IBDA/C, Islamic Jihad, DHKP/C and DEV-SOL applied to benefit from the law, adding that 1005 of them and 529 of 630 persons who surrendered were also released.
