Pepe: Germany And Turkey Have Many Things To Do In Environmental Field

BERLIN - Environment and Forestry Minister Osman Pepe said on Thursday that Turkey and Germany had many things to do in the field of environment.
After his meeting with German Minister for Environment, Nature Conservation, and Nuclear Security Juergen Trittin, Pepe said that Turkey was launching efforts seriously to benefit from the experience of Germany.
''Turkey indexed its environmental law to German environmental law in a considerable extent. We made a general evaluation about elimination of waste products and waste water, clean air and clean energy in our meeting,'' Pepe said.
Pepe said that he invited Trittin to Turkey, adding that ''we will also have the opportunity to come together with him in many international meetings. We will meet again in an international conference on clean energy and renewable energy sources in June in Bonn.''
Pepe said that he would also take up some important projects in his meeting with German Minister for Economic Cooperation and Development Heidemarie Wieczorek-Zeul. ''We have serious preparations about possible projects that need to be done. Even the most developed countries in the world have difficulties in the field of environment,'' he said.
Pepe stressed that the environmental consciousness was increasing in Turkey.
Trittin said in his part that they discussed many projects, adding that ''we talked about waste products, EU provisions on environmental cleanliness. We focused on the continuation of many projects which were earlier started. We reached consensus of opinion to continue these projects.''
Trittin stressed that Germany was ready to extend all kind of support to Turkey in the field of environment, adding that Germany could be a good partner for Turkey by its information accumulation and technology.
