International Criminal Court's Representative Calls Turkey To Sign Rome Statute

ANKARA - Irune Aguirrezaba, the European Coordinator of the International Criminal Court visited on Thursday Parliamentary Human Rights Follow-Up Committee.
Aguirrezaba who met with the committee's chairman Mehmet Elkatmis and its members, told reporters that they wanted Turkey to be a member of the International Criminal Court which was founded by U.N. General Assembly resolution and which had 66 member-states.
Pointing out to the efforts of Turkey to join EU, Aguirrezaba said that Turkey should sign the Rome Statute on Establishment of the Court. He asked the support of the parliamentary committee in that regard.
Elkatmis said they would assess the issue.
