AMSTERDAM - Agriculture and Rural Affairs Minister Sami Guclu said on Thursday that Turkey wanted to attract investments from the Netherlands.
Guclu, who is paying an official visit to the Netherlands, visited Aalsmeer Flower Market, which is famous for its flower trade and received information from officials.
Officials said that Turkey sold flowers to that market and those flowers were sent from that market to other countries.
The officials stated that they did not face any quality problem in flowers they bought from Turkey but there were problems in transportation.
Eighty-five percent of flowers sold in the market is sent abroad.
Guclu told A.A correspondent that level of agriculture in the Netherlands, especially flower, greenhouse and insemination was worth appreciation.
Guclu noted that he proposed his Dutch colleague and other Dutch officials to make joint investments in planting and processing agricultural products and in greenhouse and insemination.
His proposal was welcomed, Guclu stated.
Guclu added that Dutch agricultural organizations and investment companies could make investments in Turkey in a short time if they could overcome bureaucratic hurdles easier than they expected.
Agriculture and Rural Affairs Minister Sami Guclu and accompanying delegation are expected to return to Turkey on Friday.
