LEFKOSA - TRNC Foreign Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Serdar Denktas said on Thursday that Turkey and TRNC took steps for solution within good will and with a positive approach.
TRNC expected Greek Cypriot side and Greece to respond to those steps, Denktas said, adding that unilateral steps would not sort out the issue.
Turkish Ambassador to TRNC Hayati Guven visited Serdar Denktas the same day and wished him success in his new office.
Guven said in the meeting that the TRNC government came to power in a period in which solution efforts intensified.
Serdar Denktas said in his part that he believed that TRNC government would overcome the difficulties of the period in full cooperation with Turkey, Turkish ambassador, commanders and with the TRNC President.
When a journalist asked his view about the visit of Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan to the U.S. and the mediation rumors, Denktas said that they would meet with Erdogan after his return from the U.S.
Denktas said that they could make an assessment about the process after getting information from Erdogan, adding that ''Turkey and TRNC take steps for solution with their good will and with a positive approach. U.N., the U.S. and EU should encourage both Greece and Greek Cypriot side to take steps in return.''
