AMSTERDAM - Agriculture and Rural Affairs Minister Sami Guclu received on Wednesday information about soil and water management unit in Utrecht, the Netherlands.
Officials of the unit explained how Turkey could make use of agricultural funds of the European Union (EU) for development of especially rural areas during its accession process.
Dutch officials informed Guclu about legal changes that the Agriculture and Rural Affairs Ministry should make to benefit from those funds.
Giving Poland as example, Dutch officials said that this country could not make use of those funds as much as other candidate countries since it did not make a series of changes on time.
Officials of the unit informed Guclu about new irrigation technics and how natural protection areas could be formed in some regions.
Guclu and accompanying delegation later visited the fifth biggest greenhouse in the Netherlands.
Turkish delegation headed by Guclu received information about the greenhouse which is built on an 18 hectares of field and in which cucumbers and peppers are produced to be exported.
Officials of the greenhouse said that Turkey and the Netherlands could cooperate in field of greenhouses.
Guclu later visited a dairy near Utrecht.
Agriculture and Rural Affairs Minister Guclu will continue his meetings in the Netherlands on Thursday.
Guclu is expected to depart from the Netherlands on Friday.
