ISTANBUL - Police confiscated on Tuesday nearly one ton of heroin in Istanbul. Seven people were detained.
Officials told the A.A correspondent that acting on a tip off, narcotic teams raided a depot in Hadimkoy district of Istanbul.
Narcotic teams seized nearly one ton of heroin concealed in special compartments under the floor of the depot and detained seven people in connection with smuggling.
Officials said the smugglers were trying to smuggle the haul which they provided in Iran, and brought to Istanbul through Yuksekova, to abroad.
Officials said the persons who were detained were members of a drug smuggling gang from Yuksekova.
