Erdogan: Turkey Will Be Pleased To Be A Mediator For Peace, Security And Stability Of Its Neighbors

NEW YORK - Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan said on Tuesday that Turkey would be pleased to fulfil its duty as mediator for peace, security and stability of its neighbors.
Erdogan delivered a speech on Turkey's foreign policy in the 21st century at the Council on Foreign Relations in New York and then replied to questions of participants.
Upon a question on developments in the Middle East, Erdogan said that Turkey could undertake the mission of mediation.
Erdogan noted that Turkey conveyed this view to not only Israeli and Palestinian officials, but also to Syrian President Bashar al-Asad, who visited Turkey a while ago.
Al-Asad expressed pleasure with Turkey's mediation proposal, Erdogan stated.
Erdogan added, ''we will be pleased to fulfil our duty as mediator for peace, security and stability of our neighbors.''
