WASHINGTON D.C. - U.S. Department of State thanked Turkish government for its contributions to the conference on Iraq at foreign ministers' level which would be held in Sharm al-Sheikh, Egypt.
U.S. Department of State spokesman Sean McCormack said that Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice had a phone conversation with Turkish Foreign Minister Abdullah Gul at the weekend, thanking Gul for Turkish government's efforts to bring together neighboring countries of Iraq in this conference.
McCormack also quoted Rice as telling Gul that she wanted to have a meeting with him during the meeting to be held in Sharm al-Sheikh at the beginning of May.
Replying to a question, McCormack noted that the following meeting could be held in Istanbul.
