Transportation Minister On High Speed Train In Turkey

SAKARYA - "Turkey will rank 8th among European countries regarding high speed trains and high speed train operations," said Transportation Minister Binali Yildirim on Monday.
Yildirim inspected the Turkish Railway Car Industry Corp. (TUVASAS) facilities in Sakarya. Yildirim said production of high speed train sets will begin in the second half of this year in Turkey.
"This will be a new implementation. We started one of the best models of state-private sector-foreign capital partnership. Together with the new high speed railway between Ankara and Istanbul that will go into service soon and with the production of high speed train sets in our country, Turkey will rank 8th among the European countries regarding high speed trains and high speed train operations. This is an outstanding milestone. We will make a dream come true in Turkey," Yildirim said.
Yildirim also indicated that Turkey must renovate its railway transportation system that has 12,000 km. of railway lines, over 800 engines and thousands of cars.
