ANKARA - "Turkish police do not exist merely to preserve public order. Turkish police exist in the fight against global terrorism. They have experiences of bravery of which we are proud," Turkish Foreign Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Abdullah Gul said on Monday.
Speaking at the Police Radio in Anittepe, Ankara, Gul noted that "there are hundreds of heroes and brave individuals in Turkish police history. I remember all of our heroes on the 162nd anniversary of the foundation of Turkish police," underlined Gul.
Gul added that "it is the utmost priority of the Turkish administration to modernize Turkish police with the latest technology."
Meanwhile, celebrating the 162nd anniversary of the foundation of Turkish police, Turkish Interior Minister Abdulkadir Aksu indicated that Turkish police receive training at global standards.
"Turkish police utilize the latest technology and equipment. Strong Turkish police are a deterrent of many crimes. Thanks to the high technology used, our police forces arrest criminals in the shortest time possible," underscrored Aksu.
