Members Of Women's Association Wear Masks During Protest

VAN - Members of the Women's Association in (eastern city of) Van (VAKAD) protested honor killings today by wearing masks.
The women wore masks of women killed in honor killings.
"We do not want a municipality that does not open shelters for battered women. We do not want policemen, doctors, nurses, public servants and media that insult women," said Leyla Ulasoglu, a member of VAKAD.
Masked protestors ended their protest by singing a song titled "Kadinlar Vardir" ("There Exist Women").
