ANKARA - The 12th International Training Program for Young Diplomats started with diplomats coming from 42 countries.
Ertugrul Apakan, the MFA Undersecretary initiated the program with a ceremony, in Ankara.
Apakan stressed the geostrategic importance of Turkey, and said that Turkey always supported projects aiming to assure the stability and peace of the region.
Young diplomats coming from Balkan, Caucasus, Middle Eastern, Central Asian, Far Eastern, Southern Asia, Africa and South American countries will attend conferences on diplomacy and international relations to be held by academicians and high-level officials from Turkish MFA.
Introductory tours will be held in Ankara and other cities to promote economic, historical, cultural and touristic aspects of Turkey within the scope of the program to be held between April 9th and May 18th.
A total of 463 foreign diplomats have been trained so far within the scope of International Young Diplomats Training Programs which started in 1992.
