Gen. Buyukanit: Terrorist Organization Might Intensify Its Activities As Of May

ANKARA - "We had an intelligence that terrorist organization might intensify its activities as of May," Chief of General Staff Gen. Yasar Buyukanit said on Thursday.
Gen. Buyukanit held a press conference on several matters that directly concern Turkish Armed Forces (TSK) in General Staff HQ in Ankara on Thursday.
Stating that Turkish security teams were presently waging several operations against terrorist organization PKK, Buyukanit underlined that terrorist organization could intensify its activities as of May.
Noting that there were several parameters to achieve success in the fight against terrorist PKK, Buyukanit listed these parameters as: making political and military decisions, rendering collaborators ineffective, blocking external support and discouraging members of terrorist organization.
Buyukanit also remarked, "ethnic-based nationalism is the beginning of the way leading to terrorism. PKK is a racist terrorist organization. We are facing a racist terrorism."
"On the other hand, our nationalism is that of Ataturk, the founder of the Republic of Turkey. Ataturk Nationalism does not have an ethnic base. Our constitution is the one based on the citizenship," he underlined.
