LEFKOSA - Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) President Rauf Denktas said on Monday that he could not explain the details of meetings in Ankara in current stage, but he returned to TRNC with the strength and morale he had received in Ankara.
Denktas told reporters at Gecitkale Airport that he had comprehensive and beneficial meetings with President Ahmet Necdet Sezer, Erdogan, Foreign Minister Abdullah Gul and Chief of General Staff Gen. Hilmi Ozkok in Ankara.
Noting that he could not explain the details of meetings in Ankara in current stage, Denktas said, ''we have a negotiation process before us. It will not be right to reveal our negotiation position on this stage. However, I can say that we have reached a consensus on the points which are important for Turkish Cypriot side in all issues we have discussed.''
Repeating that they considered the decision of National Security Council (NSC) as positive and appropriate, Denktas said that they would undertake their mission on Cyprus issue within that scope.
Denktas said, ''what is important for us is to take a just, permanent and integrated result that will assure existence, security, sovereign equality and bi-zonality of Turkish Cypriots. We are ready to actively work on this target together with our government.''
Denktas called Greek Cypriot side administration to take realities in Cyprus into consideration and wanted them to give up their approach as if they had solved Cyprus issue by themselves.
Noting that Cyprus issue would have an important place in the meetings of Erdogan in the United States, Denktas said that they would give a final shape to their style of attitude by evaluating the condition after the meetings of Erdogan.
