ANKARA - Foreign Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Abdullah Gul said on Monday that he hoped Turkey would contribute more to solution of problems in its region in coming days.
Asked if Turkey would be a mediator in peace talks between Syria and Israel, Gul said, ''as you known, there are initiatives related with this issue for some time. As an important country of the region, Turkey has very good relations with its neighbors.''
Gul added, ''Turkey wishes to contribute to solution of problems that its neighbors are facing. Turkey has carried out many initiatives aiming at solution. Therefore, I hope that Turkey will contribute more to solution of regional problems in coming days.''
