EDIRNE - "Our fight against illicit drug trafficking is going unabated. We have impounded 1.1 tons of heroin at Kapikule border crossing since the beginning of the year," Mehmet Hatipoglu, provincial director of customs of Edirne, said on Monday.
In an interview with the A.A, Hatipoglu said, "we mounted the first operation on January 17th, and seized a mere 70 gram of heroin. On March 30th, we confiscated 304.9 kg of heroin hidden in cache of a lorry."
"We benefit from x-ray devices and sniffer dogs at Kapikule. We have impounded 1.1 tons of heroin and arrested 33 people in the (Kapikule) border crossing since the beginning of the year," Hatipoglu added.
