"HE WILL BE TREATED LIKE AN ENEMY"
Recent remarks of Massoud Barzani will be high on agenda of tomorrow`s National Security Council (MGK) meeting. At the meeting, MGK is expected to give a message to Barzani that he would be treated like an enemy. On the other hand, Turkish Special Envoy to Iraq Oguz Celikkol will leave for the United States in the coming days to express Turkey`s uneasiness about Barzani`s statements.

"OPENING OF AKDAMAR IS A PROPOSAL OF PEACE"
London-based Gomidas Institute Director-General Ara Sarafian has described the opening of the church on Akdamar island in the eastern Turkish city of Van as a proposal of peace. He said that both Turkish and Armenian nationalists could not understand the importance of the opening of the church.

DYP AND ANAVATAN TAKE FIRST STEP
True Path Party (DYP) leader Mehmet Agar and Motherland Party (ANAVATAN) leader Erkan Mumcu met last week. During the meeting, Mumcu welcomed Agar`s proposal to make DYP and ANAVATAN sister political parties.

BARZANI THREAT CAUSES TENSION IN ANKARA
The opposition got angry at Barzani`s words saying "we would intervene in Diyarbakir", and accused Justice and Development Party (AKP) government for staying unresponsive to the Kurdish leader.
The statement of Massaud Barzani, leader of the Kurdish administration in northern Iraq who said, "if Turkey interferes in Kirkuk issue, we would interfere in the issues of Diyarbakir and other cities in Turkey" will be high on the agenda of Ankara. Dengir Mir Mehmet Firat, the deputy chairman of AKP, said "we will look at the text of the speech. If it is like stated in the press, the necessary answer will be given."
Meanwhile, leader of Republican People`s Party (CHP) Deniz Baykal criticized Erdogan saying, "Prime Minister says, we met and agreed with Talabani. He misleads Turkey." Leader of Motherland Party (ANAP) Erkan Mumcu and deputy chairman of True Path Party (DYP) Kandemir said the government acted in an improvident way.

THEY DIG ISTANBUL NIGHT AND DAY
The excavation works carried out in Yenikapi district of Istanbul continue 7 days 24 hours. The excavations are made in the framework of Marmaray project, which would connect two sides of the Istanbul strait from bottom of the sea. The archaeologists who work in three shifts take care so that not even one coin gets lost. When the excavations are completed in the field, where one ancient port and 19 wreckages have surfaced, the Marmaray underground construction works will continue.

9 MARTYRS TO TERRORISM IN 2 DAYS
Nine soldiers have become martyrs in the fight against PKK terrorist organization in southeastern cities of Bitlis, Sirnak and Bingol within two days. Chief of General Staff Gen. Yasar Buyukanit attended the funeral ceremony of second lieutenant Sertac Uzun.

BARZANI ALSO GIVES A DATE
Massoud Barzani, who threatened Turkey that he would let a chaos emerge in Turkish southeastern city of Diyarbakir, this time said that a Kurdish state can be possible within 10-15 years.

"ERDOGAN WILL RUN FOR PRESIDENCY"
Suleyman Demirel, the 9th president of Turkey, said he thought that Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan would run for presidency. "Otherwise, his political party will suffer a heavy blow. Also, his political career will end since he will have accepted the accusation that his presidency would harm the country. I propose the Justice & Development Party (AKP) to make an amendment to the Constitution, and let people to elect the next president," Demirel said in an interview with the Vatan daily.

NINE MARTYRS IN TWO DAYS
General Staff Chief Gen. Yasar Buyukanit and commanders of land, air, naval and gendarmerie forces were in attendance at the funeral of Sertac Uzun, who died after stepping on a land-mine planted by the terrorist organization PKK. Meanwhile, number of Turkish soldiers who lost their lives in military actions against the PKK rose to nine in the last two days.

9 MARTYRS TO TERRORISM IN 2 DAYS
Sergeant Kasif Aslan who stepped on a land mine in Bitlis, sergeant Muhterem Yagbasan who clashed with PKK terrorists in Sirnak as well as private Seref Bulut, village guard Metin Kaya and three soldiers in Bingol became martyrs. Funeral ceremonies were held for lieutenant Sertac Uzun (who was killed two days ago) in Ankara and lieutenant Hakan Han in Erzurum. Chief of General Staff Gen. Yasar Buyukanit as well as commanders of land, air, naval and gendarmery forces and National Defense Minister Vecdi Gonul attended the ceremony in Ankara.

Foreign Minister Abdullah Gul wanted U.S Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice to warn Barzani who said "if Turkey interferes in Kirkuk, we would interfere in Diyarbakir". On the other hand Barzani did not stop: "Kurds might establish a state in 10-15 years."

A NOBEL AWARDED CALL
53 Nobel award-winning people released a manifesto in memory of Hrant Dink: Turks and Armenians should be encouraged for a reconciliation, the borders should be opened, the fundamental freedoms should be secured, United Nation`s Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide should be taken into consideration.

ERDOGAN: NOW IT`S TIME FOR THE NEW ONES
PM Recep Tayyip Erdogan, who inaugurated Borcka Dam & Hydroelectric Power Plant built on Coruh River together with five ministers, said, "we have put the second gold necklace on Coruh River. Now it is time for the new ones." He noted, "we will need 540 more power plants against any possible energy shortage in the future, and we will build them."

THIRD AIRPORT FOR ISTANBUL
Turkish State Minister & Chief Negotiator for EU talks Ali Babacan said that Istanbul has become the center of Middle East and Asia, adding, "we have two airports in Istanbul but they are not enough. We have started projects to build a third airport in Istanbul."

ISTANBUL HOSTS PACIFIC SUMMIT
Turkey has become one of the most important centers of the global economy. The Pacific Summit was held in Istanbul with the aim of increasing economic and commercial relations with Pacific countries. 231 businessmen from those countries were in attendance at the summit. Turkey aims at increasing its exports to Pacific countries up to 10 billion USD in the next three years.

PKK ESCALATES ITS ATTACKS, KILLING NINE IN TWO DAYS
Turkey has been mourning for nine martyrs who lost their lives in recent attacks by the terrorist organization PKK in the last two days.
