ANKARA - Inflation has increased approximately 919 fold in 1990-2006 period in Turkey.
According to the data gathered from the State Planning Organization (DPT) net wages raised 1,579 times in public sector and 1,174 times in private sector in the same period.
Minimum wages has seen the greatest rate of increase since 1990 with, 1,950 fold whereas increase in civil service pay was 1,300 times.
-RETIRED PAYS-
The highest increase in employee pensions have been in the pensions of those who retired from Bag-kur (Social Security Organization for Artisans and the Self-Employed). Wages of Bag-Kur pensioners have increased 3,172 fold; however, even this increase could not bring their pensions to the level of other two institutions that are Retirement Fund (Emekli Sandigi) and Social Security Institution (SSK). In the same period, pensions from Retirement Fund have increased 1,040 fold and SSK pensions have increased 1,074 fold.
-COST OF LABOR FORCE-
The greatest increase in cost of labor force has been with the minimum wage earners. The labor cost of a minimum wage earner has increased 1,692 fold whereas this number has been 1,482 with public worker wages and 1,086 in private sector workers` wages, and 1,057 in wages of civil servants.
