Turkish Cypriot Industry Chamber Rejects Greek Cypriot Proposal As Hypocrisy

LEFKOSA - Turkish Cypriot Chamber of Industry rejected Saturday a Greek Cypriot proposal to ship Turkish Cypriot goods to Larnaka before they were exported to European countries and said that it was an instance of "hypocrisy."
"The only goal of this proposal can be to prevent the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) to directly export its goods to Europe," a statement from the chamber said, reacting to an "economic measures package" presented to EU Acting President Angela Merkel.
Noting that they encountered obstacles created by Greek Cypriot administrations secretly or openly whenever they try to increase trade from Northern Cyprus to the Southern Cyprus, the chamber said they failed to put their products in the shelves of Greek Cypriot markets. While preventing practices of the Green Line statute between us, trying to use the same statute abroad as a means of Osmosis is mere hypocricy, the statement added, "it is impossible to bring the two communities closer by hypocrisy."
The statement also denied allegations of Greek Cypriot press that almost 100 Turkish Cypriot firms obtained "transportation licence" from Greek Cypriot administration. It called on Greek Cypriot administrations' foreign nimister George Lilikas to apologize for portraying "the driving licences" obtained by Turkish Cypriot drivers from Greek Cypriot administration to be used just in case as "transportation licences".
