Turkish Athlete Wins Gold Medal At European Cup

FERRARA - Turkish athlete Elvan Abeylegesse won the gold medal at Saturday's European Cup, 10,000 meters.
Abeylegesse ran 31:25.16, leaving behind her closest challenger 2005 gold medalist Sabrina Mockenhaupt, who quit the race at the 7th kilometer.
Abeylegesse won last year's competition in Antalya where she ran an impressive 30:21.67, which ranks her fourth all-time among Europeans, a list led by British star Paula Radcliffe (30:01.09).
