EDIRNE - Two women who were on a trial for stealing electricity got off with a fine of not going to beauty parlors and wedding ceremonies for 3 months.
Controlled Unrestraint Department of Edirne Judicial Court penalized 27 year old S.T. and 53 year old M.S. in the framework of "alternative sanctions to short term jail sentence" of Turkish Penal Code. The women whose crime foresees a jail sentence shorter than 1 year, are banned from going to beauty parlors and attending to wedding ceremonies for 3 month 10 days.
Since criminal proceedings is not possible, the court assigned Edirne Police Department in this issue. If police finds the two women in a beauty parlor or wedding in the mentioned time period, their punishment will be turned into imprisonment.
