Turkey's Shoe Exports Half Of Its Imports

KONYA - Competing with far east countries such as China, India, Vietnam, Malaysia, Turkey's shoe producers exported 215 million USD of shoes in 2005.
According to a report by Chamber of Commerce of central city of Konya, Turkish shoe producers doubled their exports from year 2000 to 2005.
However, Turkey imported 412 million USD of shoes in 2005 from countries that have low-cost labor and input like China, Italy, Vietnam, Malaysia and Indonesia.
Turkish shoe producers sell their majority of products to Germany, Saudi Arabia, Greece, France, Britain and the Netherlands.
