BURSA - "Turkey has become stronger against internal and external shocks," said Turkish Foreign Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Abdullah Gul.
Speking at "Dogan Ersoz Awards" ceremony onganized by Industrialists and Businessmen Association of Western city of Bursa, Gul said Turkey had lost years in the past.
"Establishment of political stability in Turkey brought Turkey to this point. For the first time in our Republic's history, we achieved a developing and growing country in a period of continuous five years," Gul said.
Noting that 4,5 years of economic development is close to a 35 percent of growth in total, Gul indicated that there is no such example in Republic's history.
He said Turkey's gross national product doubled and reached to 400 billion USD in last four years and national income per capita surged to 5,000 USD from 2,000 USD.
"If Turkey has become a magnet today, it is because of the right and proper policies," he stated.
Pointing of foreign investment inflow to Turkey, Gul said 11 billion USD of foreign investment was directed to Turkey in the first two months of this year. He added that amount of foreign investments to Turkey did not even reach 20 billion USD in Republic's history.
"Why do you think all these happened? It is because there is confidence. Turkey achieved fundamental reforms. We still have defects, but we are determined to keep completing all of them," he stressed.
