IZMIR - Irish Ambassador in Ankara Tony Mannix visited Governor Cahit Kirac of Aegean city of Izmir as well as Izmir Chamber of Commerce (IZTO) Chairman Ekrem Demirtas on Friday.
Noting that Izmir is one the dynamic cities of Turkey, Mannix said that 75,000 Irish tourists visit Turkey every year.
Governor Kirac briefed Mannix about industrial, touristic and cultural issues in Izmir and Turkey.
Mannix, during his visit to IZTO Chairman Demirtas, said that they are working on a digital city project in Dublin.
Noting that they can cooperate for technopark project which is planned to be established in Izmir, Mannix said that they can find Irish partners to the technopark project of Izmir Economy University (IEU).
Mannix also said that they hope Turkey will join the EU.
On the other hand, Demirtas said that IEU and Irish universities can exchange students and teachers through an exchange program.
