PRISTINA - Independent Republic Party (BCP) leader and former Turkish foreign minister Mumtaz Soysal said that "independence under international supervision" in Kosovo was of vital importance in order to provide a peaceful atmosphere where communities of different origins could leave together in the Balkans.
Completing his 4-day visit to Kosovo today, Sosyal stated that he wished UN Special Envoy for Kosovo Martti Ahtisaari`s proposal, which envisaged an independence under supervision for Kosovo would be successful.
Holding talks with Kosovar President Fatmir Sejdiu, head of the parliament Kole Berisha and Justice Minister Yonuz Salihay during his visit, Soysal stressed that relations between Turkey and Kosovo were discussed in a realistic and sincere way during those meetings.
Soysal also said that Ahtisaari`s proposal was the best possible solution that could be used when two biggest communities could not reach a compromise in the region.
