ANKARA - "10th Flying Broom Women`s Film Festival", which will host 149 movies of 137 women film directors from 34 countries, will take place between May 10th and 20th this year.
Flying Broom, which decided to present its "Honorary Award" to renowned Turkish actress Mujde Ar this year, will introduce Ar`s 4 films to movie fans during the festival.
Moreover, festival`s "A Country" category, which aims to introduce a specific country`s cinema and its women directors` movies to the audience, will host Hungary this year.
2 documentaries, 5 long and 2 short movies as well as an animation film from Hungary will be shown within this context.
While 6 movies of Lina Vertmuller, the first woman director to win an Academy Award, will be shown at the festival, Indian director Aparna Sen will be introduced in a category titled "The Indepent of India: Aparna Sen" as well.
Furthermore, Bulgarian director Binka Jeljazkova will participate in the festival with her 2 movies.
The festival will also host 14 movies shot recently by various women directors from all over the world, under a category called "Each One a Different Color".
One of these 14 movies will be awarded by "The International Federation of Film Critics" (FIPRESCI) during the festival.
