N.S.C. Statement: Consensus Of Opinion Has Been Reached On Need And Use Of Starting Initiatives To Revive Negotiation Process In Cyprus

ANKARA - National Security Council (NSC) said on Friday that Turkey continued to support the good will mission of U.N. Secretary General about Cyprus issue and it reiterated its political resolution for reaching rapidly a solution on the basis of realities of the island through negotiations and by taking Annan plan as reference.
NSC noted after its meeting held the same day that it was concluded that it would be useful to take up Cyprus issue with U.N. Secretary General Kofi Annan with the target of resuming the negotiation process in Cyprus within the scope of good willing approach and constructive views of the Turkish government and in close solidarity and cooperation with TRNC President Rauf Denktas and TRNC government.
The NSC statement continued as follows:''Cyprus issue has been taken up in the meeting and a consensus of opinion has been reached on the use and need of starting initiatives in order to revive the negotiation process in Cyprus. As it was earlier made public, Turkey continues its support to the good will mission of U.N. Secretary General and it reiterates its political resolution for reaching rapidly a solution on the basis of realities of the island through negotiations and by taking Annan plan as reference.''
