Migros chief executive Aziz Bulgu announced at the company's 2006 General Assembly in Istanbul that total revenues of YTL 4.7 billion last year place the chain in contention for a spot on the global top-250 retailer ranking.
The group ended 2006 with 905 stores operating across 54 provinces of Türkiye, spanning five formats: 204 Migros outlets, 239 Tansas stores, 379 Sok locations, eight Macrocenter stores, and 75 Ramstores. New branches in Tokat and Osmaniye accounted for the most recent provincial additions.
For 2007, Bulgu outlined a $100 million investment plan and a target of 100 new openings. In the first quarter of 2007, market share rose six percent and the customer base grew five percent, both figures measured against the same period in 2006.
Koç Holding Food and Retail Division Chairman Ömer Bozer praised the Migros-Tansas merger management for setting a sector example in 2006. The company's stated target is a network of 1,200 stores by 2009.
