ISTANBUL - "Foreign investments in Turkey in the first three months of 2007 reached USD 12 billion," said Ali Babacan, Turkish State Minister and Chief Negotiator for EU talks, on Thursday.
The total foreign investments that took place in Turkey last year was USD 20 billion. Thus, we can say that foreign investments in 2007 will surpass those made in 2006, told Babacan.
Attending the inauguration of Nortel's Global Technology Operation Center in Istanbul, Babacan noted that "all risks and problems pertaining to Turkey's macro-economy are history."
He added that "brain drain migration has slowed in Turkey in the past several years. Those brains who left Turkey are coming back."
