Fischer: Cyprus Issue Should Be Solved Till May 1

ANKARA - German Foreign Minister Joschka Fischer said on Thursday that Cyprus issue should be solved till May 1, 2004.
Fischer was received by Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan before he departed from Turkey.
German Foreign Minister Fischer stressed importance of starting Cyprus talks on basis of Annan plan and holding a referendum before May 1.
Fischer added that Germany, France and Britain would do their best to help a solution.
German Foreign Minister Fischer came to Ankara on Wednesday.
After holding a tete-a-tete meeting and presiding the meeting between Turkish and German delegations, Fischer and Foreign Minister Abdullah Gul held a joint press conference.
In the press conference, Fischer stressed that Germany would continue to support Turkey's road to European Union (EU) membership.
