-PHOTOGRAPHS TAKEN BY A.A PHOTO-JOURNALISTS TO BE ON DISPLAY
ANKARA - The Anadolu Agency (A.A), which was established on April 6th, 1920 by Mustafa Kemal Ataturk, founder of modern Republic of Turkey, will celebrate its 87th anniversary on Friday.
A.A staff headed by Director-General and Executive Board President Dr. Hilmi Bengi, will visit the mausoleum of Ataturk tomorrow in the morning.
Meanwhile, an exhibition of 70 photographs taken by A.A photo- journalists between 1970 and 1980 will be opened at the A.A Art Gallery to mark the 87th anniversary.
The exhibition is composed of pictures chosen from A.A`s archives fastidiously to reflect Turkey`s recent past.
Portraits of leading figures of Turkish political life such as Turkey`s 2nd President Ismet Inonu, 9th President Suleyman Demirel, former Prime Minister Bulent Ecevit and Necmettin Erbakan, as well as deceased leader of the Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) Alparslan Turkes, are among the photos to be on display.
Pictures of several remarkable events such as the train crash in Ankara`s Behicbey Station, the devastating earthquake in Bingol, ASALA`s bloody attack at Ankara`s Esenboga Airport are also included in the exhibition which will remain open till April 6th.
