ANKARA - Turkey welcomed the decision of Iranian authorities to release British sailors, Turkish FM & Deputy Prime Minister Abdullah Gul said on Wednesday.
Returning from Germany to Turkish capital of Ankara, Gul replied to questions of reporters at Esenboga Airport.
Replying to a question in regard to Iran`s decision to free British sailors, Gul said, "we welcomed it."
Stating that Turkish authorities appreciated Iranian government`s attitude, Gul noted, "Iran is a neighbor country. Britain is our ally. Therefore we fulfilled our duties in regard to the matter."
