ANKARA - Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan will represent Turkey in Davos meetings of the World Economic Forum (WEF) which will bring together leaders of political and business world.
Erdogan had attended Davos meetings last year as the leader of Justice and Development Party (AK Party). Erdogan this time attends the summit as prime minister.
WEF was founded under the auspices of European Community Commission (today's European Union Commission) in 1971. The target of foundation of WEF was to bring together political leaders and businessmen of Western Europe. Later, the meetings had the quality of a global activity with participation from almost all regions of the world. Turkey joins the meetings since 1980's.
Political, technological and issues pertaining to environment as well as global economic issues are discussed at traditional Davos meetings.
''Partnership for Security and Welfare'' constitutes the agenda of this year's meeting.
Political leaders and leaders of business world who convene at the meetings are expected to discuss providing of global security, improvement of global cooperation, fight against new risks, strengthening of joint economic resistance against uncertainties, encouragement of technological renovation, adoption of difference of values, and overcoming of inequalities.
Davos meetings will start this evening and end on Sunday.
