People Think Of Turkey When You Say Holiday, Aksay

ANTALYA - "People think of Turkey when you say `holiday`. 132 million people in Russia have never been abroad. We have to work to draw these people in Turkey," said Hakan Aksay, Chairman of Turkish-Russian Research Foundation.
Speaking at a conference in southern city of Antalya today, Aksay said Turkey was not known enough and liked in 1980s in Russia as it was the ally of the United States but now Turkey has become a popular country thanks to Putin administration.
"Turkey and Turkish products have become number one in Russia. Turkish businessmen are known as good constructors in Russia. Putin likes Turkey because it is the initial point of Russia`s energy transportation and they want to make money in energy sector," Aksay said.
"This year was announced as `Russian Year` in Turkey and next year it will be `Turkish Year` in Russia. However, Turkey does not have a Turkish culture house in Moscow while even African countries have," he added.
