ANKARA - Turkish Foreign Minister & Deputy Prime Minister Abdullah Gul will introduce "e-consulate system" at a meeting in Cologne, Germany, later today.
The system will enable Turkish citizens living abroad to carry out their applications through internet rapidly and easily.
People will apply to any consulate general to become a member of the system. Membership application will also be made through internet by visiting the internet site "www.e-konsolosluk.net".
The site includes titles such as "consular services", "visa", "information notes", "announcements", "question database", "activities", "information about Turkish associations and Turkish business" and "e-library".
For the time being, Turkish people living in Europe and America will benefit from the e-consulate services. The system will cover the whole world in the coming period.
On the other hand, the highest security measures were applied to protect individual information.
The system also includes the languages of English, French, German and Spanish.
Yesterday, Gul told reporters about the "e-consulate system" before leaving for Germany, "thanks to this project, our 5 million citizens living abroad will be able to make most of their applications through the internet without going to consulate buildings."
