A CROWD OF AFFECTION
Nearly ten thousand people rushed to the new stadium in Aleppo, Syria, to watch the friendly game between Fenerbahce soccer club of Turkey and al-Ittihad soccer team of Syria. Earlier, the stadium was inaugurated by Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan together with Syrian President Bashar al-Asad and Prime Minister Farouk al-Shara. Fenerbahce drew 2-2 with al-Ittihad at the end of the friendly match.

BOGAZICI TO HOST INTERNATIONAL TRANSLATION CONFERENCE
Istanbul`s Bogazici University will host the international conference on "Translation & Translation - des faux amis. Tracing Translation(s) across Disciplines". 30 leading names from all around the world will be in attendance at the conference.

ERDOGAN CALLS JURISDICTION TO DUTY
Premier Recep Tayyip Erdogan stated that Turkish jurisdiction did not fulfill its duty, regarding the allegations on a probable military coup, claimed to exist in former Naval Forces Commander retired Gen. Ozden Ornek`s diary.
"Offices of Public Prosecutors have a serious responsibility on the issue. However, nothing is heard from them. They have to ask the magazine (Nokta) which published such allegations, to submit evidence and documents," Erdogan stressed.

PIERINI: "ARTICLE 301 IS A KEY POINT FOR EU"
Marc Pierini, head of the Delegation of the European Commission to Turkey, indicated that they expected Turkey to carry out reforms both in laws and attitudes.
Pierini also noted that Article 301 of the Turkish Penal Code, was one of the key issues in Turkey`s negotiations with EU.

According to his visitors, President Ahmet Necdet Sezer believes that PM Recep Tayyip Erdogan will run for Presidency. Sezer says "Erdogan is determined to be President."

RALLY TENSION IN ANKARA
The government has reacted harshly to the claims that exams were postponed at a university in Ankara to allow students to attend a rally to be held by the Kemalist Thought Association. Foreign Minister & Deputy Prime Minister Abdullah Gul said, "there is the freedom of expression in Turkey. However, we will never allow illegality and unlawfulness."

MEDIA BESIEGED
Republican People`s Party (CHP) leader Deniz Baykal has criticized the pressure put by the Justice & Development Party (AKP) government on media organs. "The biggest media organization is under a financial besiege of 2.5 quadrillion YTL and the second biggest organization was sequestrated just before the upcoming elections. Today, we cannot talk about a free press in Turkey," Baykal commented.

ARMAMENT IN SCHOOLS
A public survey carried out by a parliamentary commission with the participation of 26 thousand students revealed that one out of each ten students carries a gun and 12 percent of male students resorts to violence. 92 percent of all students has been addicted to TV.

CALL FROM ERDOGAN: "JURISDICTION TO DUTY"
Premier Recep Tayyip Erdogan emphasized that public prosecutors should open an investigation regarding the recent publications on the plans of a military coup, however, "they remained silent".
Upon a question on whether he discussed the issue with Chief of General Staff Buyukanit, Erdogan said, "public prosecutors have a responsibility concerning this issue, but nothing is heard from them".

CANDIDATE TO BE DETERMINED ON APPLICATION DAY
Premier Erdogan stressed that their candidate for the presidential election process, which would start on April 16th, would be determined "when the applications started".
"I keep discussing with the civil society. The scanning process within the organization has been completed. We will start to hold talks with MPs next week. I hope we can carry on the stability we have achieved, till the end of the year," Erdogan said.

Inauguration of Aleppo Olympic Stadium was held with a magnificent ceremony. PM Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Syrian President Bashar al-Asad attended the ceremony together with their wives. Turkey`s Fenerbahce soccer team drew 2-2 with Syria`s Al-Ittihad soccer team in a friendly match which was played after the inauguration ceremony.

INFLATION 10 PERCENT
Consumer prices were up 0.92 percent, and producer prices were up 0.97 percent in March. On the other hand, the annual inflation was 10.86 percent in consumer prices, and 10.92 percent in producer prices.

INFLATION UNDER EXPECTATIONS
Inflation rates which are expected to be high due to price increase in Turk Telekom and Tekel, made a surprise in March. Consumer prices were up 0.92 percent, and producer prices were up 0.97 percent in March. Experts are expecting the rates over 1 percent.

FRIENDSHIP FLOWS THE STADIUM
150,000 Syrians, who came to Aleppo Olympic Stadium (inaugurated by PM Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Syrian President Bashar al-Asad), showed great friendship towards Turkey. Turkey`s Fenerbahce soccer team drew 2-2 with Syria`s Al-Ittihad soccer team in the friendly match played in the stadium.

15 YEARS OF IMPRISONMENT ASKED FOR 53 DTP EXECUTIVES
Maximum 15 years of imprisonment was demanded each for 53 mayors from Democratic Society Party (DTP) who sent a letter to Danish PM for not closing Roj TV. Prosecutor said that the mayors knowingly and willingly aided PKK.
