Iran says 'ceremony' for release of British sailors has started

TEHRAN - A "ceremony" for the release of the 15 British sailors has begun, an Iranian official said on Wednesday after President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad announced they would be freed.
Bijan Nobaveh, a veteran Iranian journalist moderating the news conference, invited reporters at the conference in the presidential compound in southern Tehran to transfer to another room to meet the naval personnel.

President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad on Wednesday said that the British government had promised in a letter not to repeat the incident which saw 15 of its sailors captured for entering Iranian waters.
Bush hails release of Britons
President George W. Bush on Wednesday welcomed the release by Iran of 15 British naval personnel.
"As Prime Minister Blair said, President Bush also welcomes the news," White House spokeswoman Dana Perino said.
Turkey Welcomes Release Of British Sailors
Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan welcomed the decision by Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad on releasing 15 British sailors, said Prime Minister`s Office on Wednesday.
In a written statement, Prime Minister`s Office said, "Mr. Prime Minister has welcomed the decision by Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad on releasing 15 British servicemen. He wishes a reunion of British servicemen with their families as soon as possible and this standoff completely comes to an end."
